Biography

I've always been a fan of drums but bored of a sit-down drummer stuck to driving a back beat. I've loved percussive oriented music also but we all know that there's nothing worse than a 10 minute drum solo! I always believed that drums should not only be percussive, but melodic! I worked very closely with Q and Mike for 10 months perfecting this combination. What came out of it was amazing!

When we played live (only 5 times), we wowed the crowds! From young to old, everyone had an amazing reaction to our sound. We were clean, rich, dancy, tribal, rock, you name it, we were it!

At our first gig, Henry Winkler and Neal Israel came by for an impromptu drop by. They were working on a movie locally and dropped in the nightclub we were playing in just for a quick drink. Well, immediately after our set was over, the director of the movie, Neil Israel, came up to me and told me that he wants us to have a song in the movie he's currently shooting. Well five days later, we're live on-set, being filmed into the movie, with 2 songs back to back. Imagine our elation! The movie is titled: Dad's Week Off. See the clip below.

The song ADD A LITTLE HEAT as featured in the movie: DAD's WEEK OFF

At our 2nd and 3rd gigs, we chose outdoor places in Vancouver known as Granville Island (an outdoor market) and the Kitsilano Showboat Stage to play for a general crowd. Basically, we were buskers for a day. Our CD's at one point were selling every minute. The crowds had to be literally moved so as to allow the traffic flow of cars to get by; the crowd shut down the street!

For our 4th gig we played a radio station's promotional night and a 'band wars' competition. Well, we were 3rd on the roster. Once we finished playing (4 encores), the band after us refused to play. They said that there's no way that their playing after us. By the time the 5th band got on, half of the nightclub emptied and we had won the night hands down.

Our careers in music were about to get propelled into the stratosphere until the egos of the talents clashed. Alas, Black Stone came to an end. To no avail, myself, Q, and Mike restructured and got Brian to join our team. D24 was created.

By far, Black Stone was the most talented group of musicians I ever played with. Ron, your guitar playing never ceased to amaze me. Q, your a tribal drumming god. Mike, you had the feel and the passion and Steven, a virtuoso on keyboards! You guys were all an amazing team and I still to today wish that we had lasted a few more months...

...we almost made it!
